Come join me at X&O Books for a 2-part beginner series! Part 1 — Mah Jongg from Scratch Thursday, October 8th, 6:00-9:00pm New to mah jongg? This is the perfect place to start! In Part 1, you'll be introduced to everything you need to know to understand the game from the ground up. We'll cover the tiles and their suits, the setup and structure of play, the Charleston (the tile-passing ritual before each hand), how to read the National Mah Jongg League card, and the basic rules of the game. By the end of this session, you'll understand how the game works and feel excited to sit down at the table again! All participants receive a tile guide, instructional materials, and a practice playing card. No prior experience needed — just bring your curiosity! Part 2 — Practice Makes Mah Jongg Thursday, October 22nd, 6:00-9:00pm Now it's time to put it all together! Part 2 is a hands-on playing session designed to take you from "I understand the rules" to "I feel comfortable at the table." We'll play full rounds of mah jongg in a relaxed, supportive setting, reinforcing everything from Part 1 while you get a feel for the rhythm and strategy of real gameplay. I will help guide you through decisions, answer questions as they come up naturally, and help you build the confidence to join any game. Both classes will be held at X&O Books located at 25712 NW Freeway, Suite I, Cypress, TX No refunds but this purchase is transferable towards another class or event of equal or lesser value.
